The REAL reason we were so anxious for Mother to come visit

was to give her Christmas present to her. My brothers, Bud and I wanted to give her the car she has wanted forever, a new Cadillac. With excellent help from David, my brother-in-law who works at Batchelor Cadillac in San Antonio, and Ken's help as well, we were able to do the deed. We kept it hidden in the hangar with a great big red bow for several days after they arrived, until we could 'declare it Christmas'.

So we opened the several presents we had wrapped, and then 'heard the Jingle Bells' [ok, so I did shake the bell wreath, but it Could have been Santa] from the hangar. Bud and I were by the car and Kary and Vicki walked with Mother. She was 'gob smacked' as my English friends used to say. She loved it, said the color - a pretty silver with black leather interior - was perfect.

We all relaxed and enjoyed the company, especially the puppies. It was cold but a nice fire made it cozy and perfect for a 'Christmas Day'.

The next day everyone loaded up and drove back to West Texas. Mother called us later that day and said the car drove beautifully, but she had to turn it over to Vicki at Ozona. I am now getting emails from folks from home, saying how she is really pleased and perhaps a bit snooty now [heh heh, not really, but fun to think]. She did look good in a car that color! What a great Christmas.
