Getting settled in and ready for guests

We have been doing the small things needed to be comfortable here in the house, getting the jacuzzi in (I know, but at our age it IS a necessity), and getting ready for Christmas. In the middle of this, Smokey grows up. Yup, she started telling us she was really feeling the call of the wild. So we cart her off the our vet and ask him to fix her front claws as well. She came back the next day, not feeling well, and definitely with sore paws.



It took her several weeks but she's fine now, healing nicely, and eating gobs and gobs per day. She is really sociable, if not exactly lovey. She has to be right up with anyone, playing with boxes and sacks, and helping Bud shave in the morning. She sits on the counter in an empty box, watching us cook, clean or whatever. Unless, that is, when she is trying to sit in/on whatever you are working on.


She now usually sleeps on the bottom of our bed, while the poopers sleep at the foot of the bed. In the past, they would wake us up at least once in the middle of the night, usually about 3:15am to go outside. We would troop down the stairs, do our business outside, then troop back upstairs and go back to bed. For the last several nights, they have slept until about 5:45am, neat! Sometimes I will tell Sophie to go to bed and go to sleep and she does it! They'll let us sleep at least one more hour. But we can't make it past 8am, just too hungry. A great improvement.
