Almost ready to leave for CA
Well, not ready but our chores are almost done. Downstairs cleaned, most of the mowing is done, all that Bud can make himself do, that is. He hates to mow down flowers, so the lot looks a bit like it got a "mohawk" as Bud called it. I couldn't resist posting one more picture of Bud and the poopers. That is Sophie closest to the camera; she loves to run. Jack is by Bud, he's much more laid-back.I just filled, for the last time this summer, the humming bird feeder Kary and Vicki gave us for Christmas. I hope others feed the little hummers while we are gone. I also filled the seed feeder. I feel better about that one as likely the birds that eat from that feeder have more alternates than hummers do.
We said goodby to the local airport, Gillespie County/T82 and the Hangar Hotel with its great Diner. As you see it is designed to look like a WWII hangar. The inside is decorated like one as well, with old-time black phones, etc... A really nice place, and very popular with all kinds of airplane-type folks. There is usually something going on there like a fly-in of a particular type of plane, last weekend it was L19's. In the next image, Joe Fritz is beside me and 'lil EB'. He was so nice to me while getting my license and did the great annual on the Aerostar.
And these characters are usually found loitering along the ranch road to our house. You must be careful as if you slow down they all come to the fence to see if you might have something interesting to eat. I'll miss all our friends here in the Hill country.
Today we will finish getting the house ready and pack the car. Tomorrow we will take off for my mother's house for a one-night stand, and a short visit with the relatives and relative pooches, then off on the northern route to CA for the summer.
