The rest of the 'Redneck Roadtrip' as Robert called it.

When we got to Pensacola, we found that there was a great RV park right on the Naval Air Station. It was beautiful, right on the water. We parked there for three days while we had our physicals.

We took the poopers to the most beautiful beach ever - soft white sand and blue-green water. And there was the difference, the surf! Holy Cow, they had never seen waves. They
balked a few times when the waves crashed over the shore, but in the end, Sophie could not resist going after the thrown stick. She jumped right in and took off. Jack did some as well, but he pulled his usual trick of waiting until she gets close and takes it away. I was having so much fun I kept forgetting to get pictures - sorry. They were beautiful and had a glorious time, and got full of sand and salt. We had to really hose them off and even then we're not sure we got even most of it.

We found out that first day that the Navy Blue Angels lost one of their own during an air show. We saw some of their planes coming home, flying over the water to land, that was one in this image. It was about the saddest thing to see. No one knew at that point what happened to the newest solo pilot, but the guess was that he blacked out from the g's. The point was made that they don't wear g-suits.

We had little time to visit the Air Museum, not as much as Bud would have liked. Of course, he would have spent most of every day there if he could. He loves it and always notices the new displays. The poopers were posted outside guarding the RV, and were really good! As we drove away from the museum, we saw this great car!

We left Wednesday morning, knowing we could be getting into
some rough weather later. This is the most difficult part, Bud was tired and actually sore from having to fight the rather loose steering and fight the wind. We got through the weather, well, actually, I slept through it while Bud drove.

We came into Texas and stopped at the Welcome to Texas Stop close to Orange. It had this great star at the front and was beautiful. We took a little break, and walked the poopers. We stopped next at "Buc-ees" mostly because of their numerous billboards. It was actually pretty cool, and the merchandise was not 'cheesy', we bought a great Texas carving board and a pretty cow hide. I told Bud about my brother, Gary's traumatic experience with a Stuckey's years ago when he was young. So we bought him a couple of pralines. Hope he wasn't too warped from it. heh

We stopped the last time at a place between Houston and San Antonio. It was not the most lavish, only one unisex shower/lavatory and it was by a railroad track. That seemed charming in the evening hours, but kinda got old after 5 trains came through during the night. BUT, there were the most interesting catepillers all over the place. I was not sure what they will turn into but they were really cool at this stage of their lives.

We were off early, made it through San Antonio easily, and were home in good time. Then, it happened. Yup, after about 2000 miles and not a scratch, we backed it up into the tree branch in the front yard, breaking out the back window. Seems that is where 80% of the accidents happen, according to the RV rental place. We were worried it would mess up someone else's vacation but no one had rented it the next week.

It was a good trip, we learned what we liked and some things we didn't. We'll have to think about this whole RV thing.

The accident can happen anytime,
on the road There are many unexpected things such as bad cops, weird laws , a winding road... etc. Those things can make you go crazy and the accident will happen. I think audio books will calm you down.

Get good audio books so as to keep you stay happy on the road from this site
