The Hill Country is blooming after the rains

And Smokey loves being outside in the bluebonnets. She was sneaking through the tall grass and wildflowers, attacking all the mayflies and butterflies. We even had to get Jack to find her at one point. He always does, and she was hiding in the dandelions. The poopers enjoyed sitting in the grass and flowers as well.

They seem to be enjoying the nice sunshine after having to be in the house so much after the rains.

It is so pretty here now. The mountain laurel is blooming. It is the prettiest thing and has a beautiful scent. When I was teaching at UTSA they were planted all over the campus. Shannon and I loved them then. We are planning to get some trees planted soon and I have asked for at least a couple of these beautiful plants.

Speaking of rains, here is a picture of the Pedernales River after the first of the big rains. This usually is just a bit of water either through the culvert under the road or a little over the road. We take the poopers here to swim and play in the water. Obviously this day, the road was closed. We would have had trouble getting into Fredericksburg if we had needed to.
