This week was pretty busy, but Timing was lousy.

The Aerostar has gone through a very complete annual with Joe Fritz Aviation. It had ports open I have never seen before. They were wonderfully thorough; it made us feel pretty comfortable we had found a good place. Unfortunately the weather has been stinkin', with squall lines forming nightly and we don't have a hangar. Joe has been really good to keep the Aerostar in his hangar but it takes up lots of space and he has to pull it out in the morning and put it back at night to keep it out of the storms. So Bud took it back to CA this week. Without us. He had to stop in Henderson to be able to recover from the turbulence and visit Moxie. He went on home today, but called to see how my check ride went.

It didn't. I have completed all the requirements for my Private Pilot's license, and was scheduled to take my checkride today. Granted, I am scared spitless and don't feel completely ready. But I wanted to just get it done. I had two packets, one with the documents for me as a pilot, and another with all the documents for little EB. I had a flight plan to Laredo [actually three, one I did and two from on-line programs], I had route weather from 3 different agencies, I even had Peanut M&M's for the check pilot, to make a joke of the requirement for passenger briefing about seatbelts and such. But it was not to be, the weather was not cooperating. I did all the required sacrifices to the gods of flying, but it seems they didn't think it was the right time. *sigh*

and. Shannon was supposed to come this morning to supply technical support in an evaluation of a local company. She called last night, extremely frustrated in that United Airlines could not seem to meet their commitment to get her and John from SFO to Austin. It was to be a whirlwind trip, in on Saturday morning and out Sunday afternoon. Timing was so tight, between the company evaluation and accepting job offers, that this one failure made the whole house of cards fall. I'm glad I was half a country away from her. United staff probably was not as happy.

So the poopers, Smokey and I are here, watching tv and finally catching up on the blog. Tomorrow, in between predicted storms, we'll try to exercise, get in a long walk, and clean up the hangar and house, and study some more. And wait for Bud's call.
