Jack and Sophie and Smokey like it here
They may have been born in California, but they are Texans by nature. Jack and Sophie love it here. These pics are taken out the front and show them running to Bud, with ears flying and great big smiles on their faces. They have some friends in the next lot, Abby, a black lab and a Field Champion, Zulu her son, also a black lab, Zhora, her daughter, a very small reddish lab, and Cody Bear, a golden retriever, or a golden refuser as Skip calls him, since he doesn't actually bring things back, just 'near' and wants to play chase. Like Jack and Sophie. They are smaller than our puppies, Cody Bear may weigh 60 pounds and he's the biggest of the crew. The six of them play together often, always with the preliminary sniffs, raised hair along their back, but never big fights. 
Zhora, who can't weigh more than 35 to 40 pounds, is fearless, and tireless. She and Sophie were playing tug-o-war today with a rubber toy and each giving big head shakes. But Zhora was the one being shaken, as Sophie has 50+ pounds on her. We had to stop the game when we saw blood flying, Zhora's mouth or gums were bleeding. But she was not giving up!
Smokey is happy as well. She really enjoys lounging in sunny windows. She is not the most modest of creatures, as you can see here. She rolls around on her back, legs akimbo, seemingly inviting tummy rubs. But then she bites you if you try to comply.Sophie still tries to mother her. In this picture, Smokey was lying in the sunshine and Sophie came by to clean her ears for her. Jack usually wants to play with her, a little roughly, so she normally scoots under something, like a chair or the bed. Then she ambushes him, zooming out to attack, zooming back under the bed
. He usually doesn't know what hit him. They all get along, and she usually stays close to us and them.But if we can't see her near, we know to look for a sunny window. She is even starting to purr again.
In this last pic, we were hanging the pictures along the stairs, and everyone was around to help or offer advice.
