Sorry for the delayed posting, just another 2 weeks though!
I know, I know. I have no excuse whatsoever, laziness, pure and simple. But. We are heading for London tomorrow, so this will have to wait another 2 weeks or so. The poopers and Smokey will visit our Hill Country vet's boarding, a first for them. They have always been taken care of by Andrew at our house in CA, or simply gone with us. Jack and Sophie will be able to stay in the same kennel, Smokey will be off with the other kitties. We'll be back in a week, unless Bud decides he can't be away from them that long. [Don't laugh, it has happened before.]One more thing. As you know, I got my Private Pilot's license in May of this year. I've been flying rental planes, C150's and C172's since then, building up time in preparation for getting my Instrument ticket. Guess What! Santa gave me a plane for Christmas!! It is really a cutie, a red 1972 Grumman Traveler 5AA, tail number N5893L, single engine, high compression150 HP engine [130 kts cruise], fixed gear, and low wing. I got to fly it yesterday and today and it is wonderful. I first flew with one of the pilots from the local Grumman maintenance depot for about an hour. At first he wanted to be in the left seat [pilot in command], but after we did a couple of landings at Fredericksburg, he said he'd move to the right seat [I took that to mean he felt good about me being able to fly], so I did one more landing at T82, then we came back to Silver Wings. He left it with me and so Bud and I went for a ride! I love it! Since it is red, she promptly was named Lil' Red Riding Hood. And Shannon gave me that song to put on my iPod. When Shannon comes to Texas in February for a visit, I'll fly Lil RRH to Wink to meet her there for a visit with Meme. I'm so stoked!
Gotta get finished packing, we leave for Dallas tomorrow morning, have dinner with one of Bud's AF buddies at Tejas de Brazil [thanks to our wonderful Aptek folks and their Christmas present]. We fly out of DFW the afternoon of the 1st. I PROMISE I'll update this as soon as I get back to the US. Of course, I'll put pics of Lil' Red Riding Hood up asap.
Have a Happy [and safe] New Year.
